Attention-grabbing mesh façade at a prominent location

Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

The east stand of the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, the home of Real Madrid C.F., is the prominent heart of the historic soccer stadium. This is where the main entrance and the press and media facilities are situated. The façade here was superbly cast in the limelight using metal fabric from GKD, creating a representative and modern appearance.

The shimmering mesh façade reflects the lights, colors and movements of its surroundings. At the same time, the transparent mesh structure conveys a sense of openness and grants a hazy view of the interior of the sports stadium.
For the façade cladding, the architects from Estudio Carlos Lamela opted for the Escale 7 x 1 stainless steel mesh / spiral mesh. Thanks to its non-flammability, easy maintenance, virtually unlimited service life, resistance to vandalism and its light and air permeability, the robust fabric is ideal for use on stadium buildings – also as fall guard protection. Moreover, because the mesh can be curved, the corners of the access towers at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu could also be cladded using special trapezoidal elements.
